Welcome Message from STSW President, Molly Dugan:

Three months ago, we announced to the membership that we would be offering our annual conference in a virtual format for the first time in 35 years. I cannot believe that the time for us to meet is upon us. So many thoughtful and hard working STSW volunteer members came together to assure that our membership has access to the quality transplant-specific continuing education this conference has produced year after year.

I am proud to be part of such an amazing organization led by innovative and creative transplant social workers from across the country. This conference, while very different from the previous 34, will continue to allow social workers to learn, share experiences, and connect with one another. While we won’t be getting up at the crack of dawn to rush downstairs to grab a cup of coffee and sit next to new and old friends, we will have opportunities to see one another’s smiles and hear one another’s voices as we connect and share what it has meant to continue to show up and provide the best care we know how to do in the midst of both a worldwide pandemic and a time of great unrest in our country.

So please sit down at your desk (at work, home, or your favorite WFH spot), remember to remain hydrated and to take standing/stretching breaks and look away from your screen. We won’t have the chance to get away and connect in person this year, but we all have the chance to participate in this virtual conference with our amazing colleagues both near and far.

I’ve said this before, but it’s worth repeating. We came into this work for many reasons. We stay for many more. We continue to work toward instilling hope and remain agents of change. Thank you for continuing to show up for your patients, your colleagues, and your families at home.
